The tree typically reaches a height of 8 to 12 meters, but in its native habitat, specimens can grow up to 30 meters tall.

Cloves have been used for centuries in various traditional cultures, including the Ayurvedic way of life and the traditional Chinese herbal tradition. They have also established a strong place in Europe, particularly as a spice in food and drink, where they are valued for their distinct aromatic properties.
