The large yellow gentian, also known as Gentiana lutea, is a perennial plant belonging to the gentian family (Gentianaceae). This plant naturally occurs in European mountains, mainly at altitudes up to 2200 meters.
In ancient times, yellow gentian was used as a medicine against various ailments, including fever, gout, hypochondria, malaria, intestinal parasites and even alcoholism. Today the plant is mainly used for its bitter properties, such as stimulating the appetite, and as an ingredient in liqueurs, such as gentian liqueur.

The large yellow gentian, also known as Gentiana lutea, is a perennial plant belonging to the gentian family (Gentianaceae). This plant naturally occurs in European mountains, mainly at altitudes up to 2200 meters.
In ancient times, yellow gentian was used as a medicine against various ailments, including fever, gout, hypochondria, malaria, intestinal parasites and even alcoholism. Today the plant is mainly used for its bitter properties, such as stimulating the appetite, and as an ingredient in liqueurs, such as gentian liqueur.
The yellow gentian can reach a height of 0.5-1.5 meters. Its leaves are opposite and show five to seven arcuate veins. This plant grows slowly and only starts to bloom after seven to ten years, but can then live for forty to sixty years. The large flowers grow in clusters of three to ten flowers in the axils of the upper leaves.
The rhizome of the yellow gentian can grow up to 1 meter long and is fleshy thickened (up to 5 cm) and rich in sugars such as gentiobiose, as well as valuable bitter substances such as gentianopicrin and amarogentin. These bitter substances protect the plant against being eaten by animals. In addition, the gentian root also contains phytosterols, phenolic acids, oligosaccharides and pectins.
Ingredients: Water-alcohol extract of Gentiana lutea (Gentian Big Yellow) root.
Ratio 1:5.
Alcohol content 60% v/v.
Dosage: Unless otherwise recommended: adults: 3-4 times daily 15-20 drops.
Do not exceed recommended dosage.
Children aged 2 - 15 years as many drops as their age.
A slight cloudiness/sedimentation has no influence on the quality. Shake before use.
